Successful Completion of SolidWorks Training Course for Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Students
PAGOH: The Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK) at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), in collaboration with PiTC, recently organized an intensive SolidWorks training course specifically designed for Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DAM) students from the Centre for Diploma Studies (CeDS). The course, which spanned two days, welcomed 60 enthusiastic participants, divided into two groups, who took full advantage of this hands-on opportunity to develop essential skills in SolidWorks—a vital tool in the engineering field.
Throughout the program, students engaged in comprehensive learning modules covering two main areas.
Fundamentals of SolidWorks Design and Validation: This section of the course introduced participants to the SolidWorks interface and guided them through core aspects such as sketching, 3D modeling, part creation, and assembly. These foundational skills are key for mechanical engineers, enabling them to conceptualize, design, and assemble components with precision.
Introduction to Finite Element Analysis (FEA): The course also included an introductory session on FEA, emphasizing essential topics such as the analysis process, stress evaluation, and mesh control techniques. These skills empower students to perform structural analysis, preparing them to identify and address design weaknesses early in the engineering process.
The course’s success was made possible thanks to the expertise and dedication of two trainers from Cadvision Systems, Ms Chua Ming Yen and Mr Ho Pang Phoong. Their guidance throughout the course, coupled with their detailed understanding of SolidWorks and FEA, provided the students with a rich and engaging learning experience. Their support not only enhanced the students' practical understanding of SolidWorks but also encouraged them to embrace best practices in engineering design and analysis.
By the end of the program, all participants had successfully completed both training modules, demonstrating their newfound knowledge and proficiency. Every student passed with flying colors, marking this course as a valuable milestone in their academic journey.
This intensive SolidWorks course exemplifies UTHM's commitment to equipping its students with industry-relevant skills, fostering a robust learning environment that bridges academic knowledge and real-world applications. Congratulations to all participants on their accomplishments, and sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this program!
